Blog Update 1404190808: ALIIIIIIIIVE!!

Ok, first: I want to apologize for just disappearing, but I had two good reasons:

1st) I had a death in the family. My brother's mother died, and we went to the funeral, and to console my brother's brother.

2nd) The day we got back, I was hit by a car (sort-of). I live in a small city in Idaho (they're all small), and there is a highway that runs over halfway through it. The only crosswalk across it is at the end, 4 miles into the city. I live on the edge of the city, by the highway, and walk everywhere. To get where I was going, There are two walking paths: A) walk 4 miles to the street the highway ends on, walk half a mile to the other side side of the highway, walk 3 miles back, and I'm there. That's the safe way. Or: B) walk a mile along the edge of the highway, dart across, walk a half mile, and I'm there. Saves 12 miles of round trip walking. So I chose option lazy, and was walking along the highway, when a car that had turned out of a street that opened onto the highway clipped my shoulder with its side view mirror. Jerk didn't even stop. The hospital had WiFi, but for some reason, my Nook HD+ won't access blogger.com, it just shows a blank screen. Today I got out of the hospital, but my right arm is in a sling and cast. The bone was broken, but they told me I was lucky the ball didn't shatter, it could have been a lot worse.

Typing is slow with one hand, and and I'm not really good at using the mouse with my left hand, so Cursed! is on Playing Hiatus for now, but I have a PC controller, so I'll switch to RPGM games until my arm's better, starting with one of my favorite games: OverWhored.

Also: the poll has closed:

Q:

How would people feel if I posted reviews of their games without talking to them first?

  1. Holy crap! First off, my condolences to you and yours on the loss of a family member (even if she isn't directly of yours, it still sucks). Secondly, I hope you heal well from your misadventure on the highway. Finally, no rush on the updates!!! You have been completely correct in your actions. RL always, always comes first! Feel better soon, Thornie!

    1. Also, having personally experienced the nutburger drivers around some of the towns in your state, it sadly doesn't surprise me in the least that some jackass did that to you without even checking to make sure you were ok. Although I will not wish bodily harm to anyone, I sincerely hope that he or she ends up with a karmic reckoning!

    2. Thank you for your support. I do believe that karma comes to all people eventually, just as The Great Equalizer comes to all. I was lucky that it was not time, yet.

  2. Umm, just curious, but you did see that person coming, right? Right arm indicates that either you were facing traffic, or you were in the middle of the road when you got clipped. Either way, as a guy who actually works on highways, I recommend you walk further off the shoulder in the future, and possibly invest in an inexpensive safety vest as well. They might not be stylish, but they will increase your visibility.

    1. I did see the car coming, sort of, but I was preoccupied. I was still in the walking area, bit it is just a 3-5 foot space in between where the cars drive and the ditch. It as mostly my fault: I should have taken the long way.
